What Killed Me: Fire and the Ice Age

When I first came to Texas, my parents and I didn't have a place to stay, so we stayed at a friend of my Uncle's house. The 8 year old who lived in that house soon became my best friend. This dream takes place at that time.

My eyes flutter open, I am in a room. What kind of room is this? I try to get up but my hands are tied to the bed I am lying on. I turn my head to the left and there is Shannon tied to the bed in the same position as me. We both look around seeing guards at every door and window leading out of the room. More men walk in. They are all wearing black body suits and oxygen masks. They carry in huge Avon containers filled with some kind of gas. We both start coughing. Shannon looks at me. "It's my mom. She's trying to suffocate us!" she says, accusing her mom of murder.
"Shannon, you don't know what your saying." She just shakes her head as an answer to that. Suddenly, a dog comes in. Shannon doesn't really have a dog, but I know this is her golden retriever. I feel a ball in my hands and the ropes binding us are untied. I look at the ball it is small and read. Suddenly, I know what to do with it. I through it past a guard's head into the following room. The dog runs after it and all the guards get distracted. They all follow the dog. Shannon and I run out of under the covers and out of the room we're running down the metal stairs triumphantly.
"We won't suffocate!" Shannon says. I sniff. The smell of smoke fills my nose.
"Uh.. Shannon? Do you smell smoke?" I ask. Shannon looks at me, her face full of worry. At the same time, we both look down. A huge fire rages on the bottom floor of the house. I fell the stairs start to break under my feet. The stairway tumbles down into the fire taking us with it.
The last thing I hear, is Shannon's voice fading away saying, "I knew she was evil."

The fire is over but somehow, the house is still standing. I stumble out from under a pile of debri and so does Shannon. My mom comes out coughing. My dad was still taking a shower when the fire happen. He comes out of the bathroom wearing only a towel at his waist. Shannon's mom stumble's in from the back yard. And we all wait but Shannon's dad and sister never come out.
My dad looks angry. He shouts, "THAT'S IT! We're going back to India!" We go buy tickets to Mumbai and from there we catch a train to Odissa.

The train stops. Everyone is confused. I push back the curtains near the window and see people trying to run away frozen in cubes of ice. My brow crumples up in confusion as I guiltily think, thank god, I'm in this train and not frozen out there. I soon come to the most reasonable conclusion in my head: The ice age has hit, yet again.

The following morning Shannon found me curled up in a ball on the floor. She woke me up and I ran to my parents and cried. I was 9.
